GameSkinny Review | DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition is an Unneeded Re-Release

Added: 19.03.2015 6:18 | 16 views | 0 comments

DmC: Devil May Cry is the last game that needs a re-release and yet Capcom believes that gamers have the memory span of a midterm voter. Like before, this could have been a good hack slash if it didn't pretend to be a Devil May Cry game with an unlikable hero.

Originally hurtling onto the scene wreathed in controversy, DmC: Devil May Cry is an especially charged topic to this day. Between a massive revamp and Chief Designer Tameem Antoniades performing a one man PR suicide campaign, the old guard were not especially receptive to this new take on the franchise. Now, two years on, the Definitive Edition sadly does little to improve upon its staggering flaws.

DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition Review | GameCloud Australia

Added: 17.03.2015 6:18 | 19 views | 0 comments

Lliam Ahearn at GameCloud Australia writes: "DmC: Devil May Cry was one of the best action games on the last generation of consoles, and now its one of the best on this one. Everything in DmC is cool; the characters, the world, the visual design, and outside of some lacking visuals and bugs, its hard to find fault with the core game. Vergils Downfall is a disappointing piece of DLC, but its hard to argue with getting it at no extra cost in this release. If you didnt play DmC last-gen, Id recommend doing it now. If you were disgusted by a Devil May Cry game not featuring Dantes original design, throw on the classic Dante skin and get over it. DmC is an exceptional video game, and this Definitive Edition provides plenty of upgrades and new content."

When Ninja Theory rebooted the Devil May Cry series fans were none too pleased with what theyd done. Many fans complained of the character redesigns, as well as complaining that the game was too easy. Even though the game was actually pretty damn good, the negative fan reaction meant that sales were less than what Capcom would have liked. So its no surprise that Capcom decided to jump on the trend up remastering last gen games and released DmC: Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition, most likely in the hopes of generating some more sales.
